Happy Birthday, P.T. Barnum!
Today (July 5) is P.T. Barnum’s birthday. He was born in the humble town of Bethel CT on July 5, 1810. Barnum always used to say that he was a Yankee Doodle Dandy (plus one!)
Barnum revolutionized American entertainment by giving people what they didn’t know that they wanted– a sense of excitement and grandeur, at a relatively inexpensive price. Barnum really had his finger on the pulse of the American psyche, and from the 1840’s to his death in 1891
