Photograph of Jim Moore (by Mark Mitton)

Jim Moore has been taking pictures for the past 30 years of all kinds of artistic and eccentric performers ranging from magicians, clowns, puppeteers, mimes, ventriloquists, performance artists, and sword-swallowers to tightrope and high wire walkers. As an early pioneer of street performing during the 1980’s-90’s, Jim performed in the streets of New York West Village and Metropolitan Museum in the height of  a renaissance in mime.  As a professional busking physical comedian, Jim developed a keen insider’s eye for capturing precise and striking moments of revelry and performance.  Jim is the photographer in residence at the NY Downtown Clown Revue, and has taken pictures of NY’s finest variety artists and performers.

These photographs (which I may be a part of someday!) will be on view for the month of June.  The opening party runs from 5:30-7:30 pm on June 7.More information about Jim’s work at http://www.vaudevisuals.comSee most of the shots of this exhibition online at http://vaudevisuals.com/category/the-clown-un_mask/
