August is Clown Workshop Month in NY!

Two groups will be teaching their clown workshops this summer in NY.  They don’t conflict, so you could actually take both if you want.  (And why wouldn’t you want to?)

NY GOOFS CLOWN SCHOOL- AUG 2-7

goofs_2012_classThis summer marks the 15th anniversary of the NY Goofs Clown School in NYC. Join them for a week of total immersion in all things clown. Teachers include Dick Monday, Tiffany Riley, Jay Stewart (my clown college roommate!) and Hovey Burgess , as well as special guest Kenny Raskin.

The focus of the week is on creating your clown character and discovering how to begin developing material and finding your comic voice. This session also includes clown history, makeup and circus skills class. Classes are held daily from 10am til 5pm, with a performance for family and friends on the final day.

 parallel_exit_classParallel Exit’s braintrust (Mark Lonergan and Joel Jeske) will be teaching a five day comedy workshop. Focusing on character, improvisation, scene work, physical comedy, and clowning; it is a great workshop for those who love to make people laugh.  Mark and Joel have a lot of experience teaching and writing and creating.

Mark and Joel will also be creating the 2015 Big Apple Circus.  Mark will direct the show, and Joel will create and direct all of the clown bits, and perform as the lead clown.  Get an extra insight into what might be happening with BAC.
